Northvail Media Center
The media program aims to develop a love of reading in the students. Each week the students in grades 1 - 5 visit the media center for a media lesson. Kindergarten students enjoy listening to fiction and or nonfiction literature. The students check out books every week.
Learning how to access information from both print and online sources is an important part of the media program. The students learn how to use print and online dictionaries, thesauruses and encyclopedias. The older students enjoy creating a PowerPoint slide and also learn how to create a slide in Google. Our primary students learn how to login with their username and password and how to use the touchpad to point, click and drag while playing academic games.
The students use our online catalog to search for books and are learning how to independently locate them in the media center. Our collection of books is very current and includes a large variety of fiction and nonfiction books on all reading levels.
